Shifting Targets
August 13, 2003
An source in the Saudi government revealed that Iran is providing safe haven for at least ten high ranking
Al Qaeda. This revelation was made clearly on condition of anonymity which intimates that he doesn't want
his bosses in Riyadh to know he spilled the beans...don't believe that.
9 out of 10 White House leaks are endorsed and the Saudis are far less lenient towards tattletales than
we are. It comes down to losing a job versus losing a limb. Saudi intelligence methods are also far
more energetic than any that would be allowed here even if John Ashcroft didn't have to bother with the Constitution.
Thus it doesn't surprise me that they might have some juicy information on the Iranians, the curiousity is in why they are
doling out this intel now.
The Saud family business has recently found itself in the crosshairs of American suspicion and enmity.
This kind of public scorn has not paid of well recently, ask Saddam Hussein or Mullah Omar. If you have trouble finding
them you might need to wait until the next unofficial Saudi press release. Since 9/11 Riyadh has known a lot more
than they have let on about a lot of things and now they are trying to control the spin.
Taking into account Teyhran's nuclear ambitions and recent retrenchment on civil liberties Saudi Arabia's
efforts at deflecting American ire may work. Either way the PR machine for War On Terror, Part 3 is getting fired
up.
